MICROCHIPS
This is a valuable tool to prevent the loss of your pet. A chip about the size of a rice grain is placed under your pet's skin between the shoulder blades. This chip carries a number that permanently identifies your pet as belonging to you. You can update your contact information online so that if your pet ever goes missing, the shelter or a veterinarian's office will scan the lost dog and find the owner.

PRE-ANESTHETIC BLOODWORK
Analyzing a small blood sample prior to your pet's surgery is good preventative medicine. It allows the clinician to detect potentially fatal problems prior to surgery, such as anemia, kidney or liver disease, and infections. These conditions can alter the way your pet handles the drugs used for surgery, so it is best to screen for potentially life-threating conditions before surgery.

PAIN MEDICATION
Surgery is a painful experience. A dog getting spayed is no different than a woman getting a hysterectomy. All patients get a pain injection at the time of surgery, but it only lasts between 4-6 hours. We have pain medication that we can send home after surgery for 3-4 days.
